What happened to the Kiwi #8 Wire mentality

One of my biggest headaches with this project has been sourcing timber.  I have only found two possible suppliers.  I went to see one today about purchasing the first lot of timber for the frames, and although they were helpful, it was clear that they are set up purely for the commercial boat building market, and not for the home builder.  Getting small quantities that are dressed is looking like being a huge hassle.

It has been something I found consistently through the planning phase of this project, that basically no-one builds a boat in their backyard any more, and so there are basically no companies supporting that sort of effort.  This was evident at the recent Auckland Boat Show, where there were literally hundreds of cookie cutter Aluminium and plastic boats, but absolutely nothing there for the home builder.

Anyway, hopefully going back to get the first lot of timber tomorrow.
